Using the Timer
The brew form includes a built-in timer:
- Tap Start Brew (or Open Extraction for espresso)
- A full-screen timer overlay appears
- For pour over: tap Mark Bloom after your bloom phase
- Tap Done when finished
- The brew time is automatically recorded
When a scale is connected, the timer overlay also shows:

Scale Integration
If you have a paired Bluetooth scale, the brew form shows:
- Scale Connection Banner: Current weight and stability
- Capture Buttons: Tap to capture the current weight into a field
- Scale Timer: Uses the scale’s built-in timer when available
See Scale Integration for more details.
Brew Ratios
The app automatically calculates your brew ratio:
| Style | Calculation | Typical Range |
|---|---|---|
| Manual | Water ÷ Coffee | 1:12 to 1:17 |
| Espresso | Yield ÷ Dose | 1:2 to 1:2.5 |
Weight Deduction
When you save a home brew:
- The coffee weight is deducted from your bean inventory
- If the bean is depleted, you’ll be prompted to archive it
Deleting a brew restores the weight to the bean.
Repeat Brew
Easily recreate a previous brew with the same parameters.
How to Repeat
There are three ways to repeat a brew:
- Swipe right on a home brew in the list
- Long-press a brew and select Repeat from the context menu
- Tap the menu in a brew’s detail view and select Repeat Brew
What Gets Copied
| Copied | Not Copied |
|---|---|
| Coffee bean | Timestamp (set to now) |
| Brewing style | Rating |
| Brew method | Notes |
| Coffee weight (dose) | Photo |
| Water weight / Yield | |
| Grind size | |
| Water temperature | |
| Equipment | |
| Pressure (espresso) | |
| Pre-infusion time (espresso) |
Reference Line (Scale Mode)
When repeating a brew that has scale data, the timer overlay displays the previous brew’s weight curve as a reference:
- Dotted gray line showing the original weight progression
- Helps you match timing and pour rate
- Axes auto-scale to fit both curves
This is useful for dialing in a recipe and maintaining consistency across brews.
Filtering Brews
The brew list supports filtering:
| Filter | Description |
|---|---|
| All | All brews (home and cafe) |
| Home | Only home brews |
| Cafe | Only cafe brews |
| Show Archived | Include brews from archived beans |
